An excellent tree that is surprisingly under-used, the Drake elm is a deciduous tree with thick foliage, arching branches, and shiny green foliage. With its umbrella-like form, the Drake makes for a great shade tree and can be planted with other elms to create a nice canopy to frame an entrance or line a road. The Drake exhibits a fast-growing rate and is hardy to 5° (in Zones 7-9). It reaches a height of 35 ft. to 45 ft. and an equal spread. Plant this elm in full Sun with moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil.
