This North American Native is a staple to any wildlife garden in need of a shrub with year-round interest and extra perks. In the spring months, large clusters of small, bright yellow flowers blooms catching the eye of anyone passing by. In the Summer, the flowers are followed by the esteemed deep, blue berries which are bitter to eat raw but can be cooked into dishes or preserves. Finally, the spiny, dark-green evergreen leaves that remain on the shrub all year change their color to a purple-red color in the Winter. New foliage even emerges a bright red. We suggest that your new Oregon Grape is planted in partial Sun and fertile, well-drained soil for the best growing results.
