Detail
The Nidiformis is such a charming little conifer, Typically growing to about 2 ft. tall and 4 ft. wide, its a delightful low-maintenance addition to any woodland or formal garden. Interestingly, if treated with care, mature versions (those over 20-years old) can reach impressive heights of 5 ft. and widths of 6 ft. With its lovely, dense, naturally globe shape and the unique nest formation in the center, it beautifully earns the nickname birds-nest spruce. For optimal growth, it flourishes in average, moist, well-drained soils and loves full sun. It enjoys cooler summer climates. It will struggle in the southernmost states.
