The distinct Red Sails Lettuce is a welcome addition to both the vegetable and the flower garden. The ruffled leaves start green and turn a deep red-bronze as they mature. Cooler temperatures will also help bring out the red in the leaves. Red Sails Lettuce leaves provide a sweet, flavorful crunch to salads and sandwiches. The heads (if allowed to form) are thick enough to lightly char on your grill. Plants are slow to bolt and grow best in full sun, but will tolerate partial shade and even appreciate it in hot climates. Resistant to mosaic virus.
