The Kidde FireX Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector, 2-AA Battery Powered (batteries included), model 900-CUDR, is a smoke and carbon monoxide alarm that still works during power outages when smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) hazards may be more likely to occur. When this smoke and CO detector senses a CO or smoke hazard, 3 loud 85-decibel beeps will sound. When false or nuisance alarms occur, from everyday cooking or shower steam, the Hush feature will silence this Kidde smoke and carbon monoxide alarm temporarily. After that, the alarm will sound again if the smoke has not been cleared. When the batteries are reaching the end of their life, the smoke alarm will begin to chirp. This is a photoelectric smoke detector, which can sense visible fire particles sooner (the kind associated with slow smoldering fires). There are also ionization smoke alarms, which may be better at detecting smaller fire particles (those associated with fast flaming fires). Fire Safety experts recommend that both are used throughout your home. This Kidde smoke & carbon monoxide alarm also uses an electrochemical CO detector that provides very accurate readings of CO.
